How player ratings work

The number next to your name, explained in one minute.

Every player starts at 1000. Every frame you play moves your rating. Beat a higher-rated player and it jumps; lose to a lower-rated one and it drops further. Winning against someone rated about the same moves it a little.

Recent form counts more. Frames this season move your rating the most; frames from older seasons count less and less. That’s deliberate — your rating reflects who you are now, not five years ago.

What counts: league frames and singles tournament frames. Doubles and walkovers never count. Your rating doesn’t fade if you don’t play — it just waits for your next frame.

Stars (on team pages) are the same rating shown on a 0–5 scale: 2.5★ is about the league average, 5★ is the top handful of players. Most active players sit between roughly 840 and 1230.

Ratings are recalculated regularly, not the moment a frame is scored — so tonight’s result may take a little while to show.

For the curious: this is an Elo system — the same family of ratings used in chess — tuned for the ADPL with the recency weighting described above.
