Ill pop the official proposals on here as i receive them for folk to see them in advance of the AGM - dont put any suggested proposals etc on this thread, just use this one for discussing the merit or thoughts on propsals received From Allan Irvine - to add to the league rules The proposal is that on Cup Final nights only, The Trophy for that particular competition be made available to the winners on evening of the final match to prevent winning team having to wait until Presentation Night, some months later in some cases to receive the trophy. Trophy still to be returned in time for engraving and re-presented at Presentation Night along with any prize money as usual. [ This message was edited by: martinc on 2010-07-22 13:08 ]

Proposal from Simon Mitchell regarding league reconstruction
My proposal is that the 1st division is to have 12 teams competing. So the other divisions will be split with the rest of the teams competing in the ADPL.
I also propose that 2 teams are relegated from Division 1 and 6 teams are promoted from Division 2A. This is to freshen up the league with new teams.

Not sure about this one. We have enough trouble persuading teams to attend the presentation night as it is. If they already had their trophies, the numbers would just go down. We need to find ways to increase the attendance.

Again, not sure. I agree that the top division should be increased to 12 (and the league structure maintained for a few seasons!!) but 6 teams up from divison 2A seems a bit much.

Believe the Bon Accord are not having a team this year - might have changed not sure. Voluntary down the list of teams in finishing order of last season or something not sure tought one like. Where else are you going to get them from Paul, there should be relegation from Div 1 so if you want to increase the league to 12 you need to promote 6

you could do 8 or 7 whatever it is in Div 1 at the moment, top2 div 2a and top 2 div 2b, or at least 2 from each Division.
I can really see it being a problem getting Div 1 sorted this season, hopefully some teams have stregthened that wasn't in the top 2 last season and fancy going into Div 1

Why does there need to be relegation? Edit to say: The team that finished in 8th place in division 1 has just as much right to be there as the team that finished 6th in division 2, i would say. [ This message was edited by: PaulS on 2010-07-22 13:46 ]

I would prefer to have relegation as I said before it will freshen the league up. It may be the case that we relegate 1 team and bring up 5 teams. Maybe the committee need to make this final decision on this proposal of promotion/relegation.

I take it the Black Dog are going up Martin? Rileys C as well, thats 2 teams for starters surely. ----------------- Your mouth's writing cheques your talent can't cash!

I never realised our place in division 1 was up for debate?!

tbh Simon, not even sure if the Black Dog will have a team next season, definitely wont be having one in Div 1, lost couple of our better palyers from last season, and only guys i have to replace them are couple of regulars in the bar who wont play in Div 1. Wouldnt be able to muster a team for Div 1 and would be pulling out after a couple of months so not worth it.
Therein lies the problem, hopefully some teams "want" to play in Div 1 that are stronger than last year and could hold their own.
THink to ensure that Div 1 has the requisite 12 teams, it is voluntary down the list of finishing positions from last season, then if that doesnt get 12 then its mandatory on top 12 finishing positions from last year.
cant think of easier ro fairer way than to do it that way

Proposal from Titch - each competition voted on its own seperate proposal
For early rounds before finals day of the Singles, Doubles and Scotch double to be best of 7 instead of best of 5 and increasing final days to best of 9 - 11 and 13 for later rounds in line with Abdn Masters format.

agreed with both above proposals, prize money could be done with upping, only do this with increased entry fee.
Also best of 5 is quite a quick format for early rounds of event, and there is the tables at Rileys to accomodate slightly longer races on finals day

Chill out, bro. Just trying to offer counter suggestions so that folks don't blindly vote for proposals at the the AGM without thinking them through first.
