On 2010-02-08 14:27 , Darties Wrote:!!! QUOTE !!! Staffe the failing of the SEPF is that only a small handful of leagues in scotland are affiliated, which in turn means that when deciding on a team to play in the international events you only have a select few to pick from. Like last year only say 20 on average playing up here on the tour and about 6 of them got a place in the trial which hardly any took up! And it was proved that he took our money just because they didn't phone the police doesn't mean he didn't do it! He is currently paying Peticur bay back himself so what more proof do you want? I'm glad Mike is on the committee as i think he could do a good job but i am still unsure if its the best option for Aberdeen as apart from benefiting 4 or 5 players staying with the SEPF makes virtually no difference in my opinion. And i was one of that 4 or 5 players that it would benefit as i turned down my place in the trial to, for my own reasons. Well now that the new comittee is in place then that is one of the main aims to get more league playing WR. As alan duncan pointed out elgin are playing WR for a season with a view to affiliating and buckie and keith just held a WR comp with 70 players so there are players and leagues out there who we could attract if it gets run properly. And as for only 20 players playing last season i take it your not counting the aberdeen tour. Derek already has over 50 players for his tour and thats without any peterhead, boddam of broch boys playing so the appetite for playing tournament pool is here. And as i have said countless times that george seems to keep ignoring. If anyone is that keen to travel and play BB rules then you still can even if we stay SEPF as you can play in the Maxi tour with simon and chris. So if we stay SEPF then you can have the best of both worlds.

I think that its important that people don't get carried away with this debate. Mainly, because thats all it is - a debate. Anyone that knows George will be aware that his comments are not designed to alienate anyone. He was the one that came up with the difficult questions folk are having to answer now. Just because he is making a vigourous defence of his ideas and views on the future of the ADPL does not mean that he has somehow become a puppet of the SPA. Anyone that thinks this cannot be taken seriously...
It is clear that he GENUINELY believes that the SPA offer more to ADPL players in all aspects, be it from local comps to international level or from juniors through to seniors. Even I must admit, the SPA's product is superior for Scottish players that want to compete at the top level regularly within Scotland.
I think everyone should be able to sympathise with the guy who proposes change of any kind, as he's always going to get it in the neck. I agree that George's ideas have not been communicated in the most tactful manner possible but I think that his attack head on approach has certainly got people talking...

P.S Long live W/R I think this is a good call Adam. I have always found George to be a very genuine guy. This is obviously something he feels strongly about. Fair play to him for exposing some wrong doing in the game. Ultimately the players will decide, dont think it is the end of the world whatever happens as folk will still be keen on their pool up here. ----------------- CML Web Design LtdYour complete web solution!

No Chris I think Martin and Jim's posts of earlier basically state all that needs to be said at present. Also seen some posts from Big Gadge on other sites which again basically state what the outcome was. Their is a new committee who are already working together for the benifit of The SEPF. I think any statements that come from SEPF will from now on be official and not gossip on websites.

Can we expect regular official articles then from the SEPF Secretary in the future then and when do we get the official minutes of the meeting on Sunday? Was the constitution ammended? Is there a current constitution? The only person who has submitted anything to this site from the SEPF in recent times was Mike Keddie and that was often months later or after prompting. Whose job is media relations on the new committee as I think to avoid this type of gossip you need a decent communication plan and regular updates for all member leagues? ----------------- CML Web Design LtdYour complete web solution! Agree with above Chris. Lessons have been learned by all I think. And the new committe members have pledged their time and commitment to the Federation in order to fix the problems you have highlighted. Affiliated leagues will be kept up to date with all relevant information. There were minutes taken. There is a constitution. And when minutes are documented I beleive they will distributed to the appropriate leagues/people. Nobody has been given specific role as media relations,If you are offering your services I'm sure your talents would be welcomed.

Now it has been decided that the SEPF are going to try and continue, I need a month to ensure EVERY player in Aberdeen is aware of what is happening and the implications, have time to discuss it fully amongst themself, try the rules out and then, and ONLY then, make an informed decision on which to base their vote.
I will begin canvassing my opinions to the players shortly.
The committee all agreed to this date and I see no reason why it should change. ADPL Constitution 6) "The committee shall have the power to call special meetings should they think it advisable, and shall also be BOUND to call a Special General Meeting to the association on receiving a request (specifying the object) from no fewer than three teams" Martin/Kev, All you need is one other team. All you have to do is ask.

The affiliation is a non-urgent vote as far as the league is concerned. It will have NO effect on the until season 20010/11.
A meeting has already been called, and a date set.

Karin is gong to work on getting a newsletter done up for the SEPF, which will need articles in it from affilaited leagues, and will be on electronioc version. Yes Karin is doing up the minutes and i will have them by the end of the week and will get them on the site. THis was one of the main criticisms from George Harwood that there was no proper doucmentation - minutes etc, this has to be improved.

I think we should all thank Furry for giving us all big wake up call regarding the state of the SEPF. I think too many of us watched it decline when we could have been helping. Myself included.
It's great to see so many familar faces trying to save the federation. Especailly those who have already played their part.
All players that want it too succeed must support it by playing and we must try to convince new leagues to affiliate by offering events.
I think a "Minister of propaganda" or media relations person would be important role to help the federation grow.

while i agree that a public/media realtions person is a great idea, lets learn to walk before we can run if we use the avenues available to us at present we can only go forward but is great to see lots more positivity post agm. maybe the constant negativity will start to go into decline....from some quarters at least ----------------- Chase Yersel'
