  Rileys Table Booking System
RILEYS have a system in place whereby they need authorisation from head office now to turn tables on for free. The result for us is that all matches should be booked as early as possible and no later then 24 hours in advance of the match. No match bookings can be made after 6pm Friday, all day Saturday and after 6pm Sunday due to these being busy times in the club.

To book simply go to Rileys and ask a member of staff or call 01224 591542. No bookings will be accepted via email.

If you have any questions please contact Rileys Aberdeen General Manager James Duncan on 01224 591542 or email aberdeen@rileys.co.uk.

Inaugural Coast Ryder Cup Winners 2012/13
Team Stonehaven (both teams playing at Troupers pictured)

Team Stonehaven have pipped Aberdeen to the inaugural Coast Ryder Cup for season 2012/13 winning a dramtic last frame decider to take match with overall score of 29-27 and avoiding a 3 frame playoff! The match was hosted by Stonehaven this year at Troupers Bar and the Queens Hotel and thanks for their hospitality. At Troupers Stonehaven had a strong side and won convincingly 18-10 but at the Queens Hotel Aberdeen won 17-11. This made for a very exciting finish and the format is sure to be around for a few years - thanks to ADPL Events Organiser Ean Jones for inventing the format and doing most of the organisation! The match will return to Aberdeen next year where the home side will look to win the trophy back.

Rileys C are the top dogs in Aberdeen for 2012/13

    Aberdeen Division 1 League Champions 2012/13 – Rileys C
Aberdeen Division 1 League Champions 2012/13
    Rileys C

Rileys C, captained by Paul Slorach, have been crowned ADPL Division 1 champions for 2012/13 after a dominant display throughout the season going undefeated in the league. Unfortunately 2 teams pulled out of the league at the last moment and the usual 12 teams quickly became 10 although the standard of all the teams throughout the year was one of the highest ever seen in Aberdeen with even the bottom placed teams having several strong players in their sides. Despite this Rileys C went all 18 games without losing only drawing two matches – early on against nearest rivals Shooters/Holburn after being 7-4 down and won the last frame to draw with Rileys Steamin Stickmen. At halfway both Rileys C and the Holburn were neck and neck but a couple of defeats by Rileys Elite and one crucial 8-6 loss to Rileys C (when Marc Davis took out a pressure finish) alongwith a small squad size cost the Holburn and Rileys C eventually took it by a 12 point margin. Last years champions Rileys Elite played well but lacked consistency all year and Rileys Allstars and Dolly Mixtures again had solid seasons. Finishing in the bottom 2 places were Rileys Rebels and Rileys Steamin Stickmen although reverting back to the full 12 team league next year might results in no relegation this year. Strength in depth was the key to Rileys Cs success this year and also some key summer signings – Phil Craig Snr and Graham Reid played well all year with a point to prove after leaving nearest Rivals Shooters/Holburn the year before. This combined with consistent performances by regulars such as Simon Mitchell and Richie Cradduck and occasional cameo roles by the likes of Ian Daniel and Marc Davis were enough to see the title come back to Rileys.

    Scott Stephen

Congratulations to Scott "Pim" Stephen (Black Dog) on winning the Division 3 Singles Title for 2012-13. In what was an exceptionally high class field for a Division 3 event with several players with international experience, and many who have played in the top division over the years, Pim overcame team mate and doubles partner Lindsay Ahern 7-2 in the final. Pim reached the final with convincing early round wins over Chirs Clark (Fountain) 4-0, Alex Faur (Rileys Rumblers) 4-2, then having to survive two final frame deciders in the quarter final over George Morrison (Black Dog) 5-4 and John Falconer (Cove Bay) 6-5, in matches that really could have went either way. Lindsay breezed through to his semi final beating John Smith (Fountain) 4-0, Ali Simmers (Rileys Rumblers) 4-1, and Scott Heron (Holburn) 5-0. In the semi final he was up against team mate Martin Campbell, eventually winning 6-4 from a 4-1 deficit, with some clinical finishing. The Final saw an early exchanges of frames between the two, before Pim stepped it up a gear taking out several quality finishes, and was always in control of the match when he got his nose in front running out a deserved 7-2 winner. Selected matches including the two semi finals and finals are available for viewing on the ADPL Ustream channel at www.ustream.tv/channel/adpl Thanks again to Rileys for hosting the event.

In a match played in a great spirit Rileys C took the most important cup competition of the season – the Ferryhill League Cup – by a convincing score line of 8-1 against the Brig Inn. The Brig Inn did well to make the final as a 2nd Division team given the strength in depth in Division 1 just now. The match was also a lot closer than the score might suggest with the Brig Inn lads passing up quite a few opportunities to get more frames on the board. At half time Rileys C found themselves going in at 7-0 and despite the Brig Inn managing to get a frame on the board the ninth frame of the night went to Rileys C along with the cup for 2012/13. Thanks to the Ferryhill Tavern for again sponsoring the event and well done again to Rileys C on achieving a league and cup double this year.

The Aberdeen 3-Man Team title for 2012/13 has been won by Paul Slorach, Richie Cradduck and Chris Lawrie (all Rileys C) beating Phil Craig Snr, Graham Reid and Stuart Keith (also Rileys C) convincingly in the final 5-2 at Rileys. The three played excellent pool throughout the day only losing 6 frames in 6 matches played. On the way to the final there was victories over Downie/Clarke/Dalglish 5-0, Gray/Alexander/March 5-1, Morrison/Campbell/Ahern 5-0 in the Quarters and Brown/Clark/Cusine 5-2 in the semis as well as another victory in the group over Craig/Reid/Keith by 5-1. Stuart pulled out a good finish to to make it 1-0 before Richie took out the next against Phil. Paul made it 2-1 by potting his last ball out of a snooker then doubling the black but Stuart again had a good finish to make it 2-2. Chris then pulled out a monster finish with a 90 degree cut in the middle to start the clearance and a black in the middle from right in the jaws of the pocket to make it 3-2 in a crucial frame. Richie then held his nerve to take the next 2 frames the match 5-2. This was the first time the ADPL have run group stages followed by knockout for the 3-Man Team finals and this seemed to go down well with lots of good pool had by all. Thanks to Rileys, Bridge Place, for sponsoring and hosting the event again this year.

The Holburn Bar (previously known as Shooters A) retained the Abbie Jamieson Cup after a close battle with Rileys Dolly Mixtures ending in a 8-6 win. Lee Craig took out a great finish to put the Holburn 4-3 up at half time, but soon after the break Clive Marsh from Rileys Dolly Mixtures won to make it 4 all. Three frames later Dollys were 6-5 up but the Holburn dug in and won the final three frames giving them the match win. Nicky Duncan

I would just like to say a huge thanks to everyone who came along to "The Callum Davidson Memorial Cup" on Saturday 13th October at Rileys, Aberdeen in aid of Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Marie Curie Cancer Fund. Callum suffered from a young age from Cystic Fibrosis and it was a privilege to be able to raise a total of £963.56 split between Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Marie Curie Cancer Care.

This is the first time we have run such an event and plan to make it annual event with the next event for the same charities being already pencilled in for 24th August 2013, entries will be open from January onwards and will be £10 per player with a charity raffle and buffet included and will be one of the final events of the 2013 Summer League.

Congratulation to Nicky Duncan, who played well all day to win the inuagural pool trophy, beating Chris Lawrie in the final, and I am sure he will be back in 2013 to defend his title. Also congratulations to the numerous raffle winners, hopefully 2013’s event can be even better. A special thanks to Leanne McNally who was a massive help with the raffle ticket sales throughout the day, I would have struggled without her.

So, keep an eye on website early next year as we start to accept entries for next years event and thanks again to all that donated, your donation however much, will be put to good use by both charities.

Reigning Aberdeen Pairs champions Graeme Cusine (Rileys C) and Pat McCarron (Holburn) have retained their title with a convincing 4-1 win over Colin Brown (Holburn) and Ian Daniel (Rileys C) in the final. Graeme and Pat played well all day with 4 wins with none of their matches going to the deciding game of doubles. This is Pat's third win in the Pairs in the five years of the event having also won the 2008/9 title with Mike Clark. Some shock early results saw Falconer/Guyan, Craig Snr/Reid, Mitchell/Gerrie and 2 time champions Bruce/Matthew all exit the event early on and also some good performances from the reunited Ahern brothers. Hutchison/Rennie played well on the day and were unlucky to lose in a close semi-final to Brown/Daniel on the deciding frame and Wyness/Gillies also did well to reach the semi-final stage. Thanks to Rileys, Bridge Place, for sponsoring and hosting the event again this year.

The Holburn Bar (previously known as Shooters A) achieved a hat trick of White Horse Division 1 Cup wins with an 8-1 demolition of Rileys C in the final for 2012/13. Simon Mitchell cleared up after an in-off the break by Darren Matthew to put Rileys C 1-0 up in the first game of the match. However that would be the last game Rileys C would win as the Holburn Bar went on to take the next 8 frames and the title once again. The highlights for the Holburn Bar in a scrappy match being a victory for Lee Craig over his father Phil and a good finishes by Colin Brown and Mike Kelly. Rileys C certainly had numerous chances in every frame but could not take advantage. Thanks to Colin Farquhar and the White Horse Bar for sponsoring the event again this year.

The 4 times Three Man Team champions who have both won the Aberdeen Singles twice each were the class team on the day and thoroughly deserved their win - although had to fight hard for a 5-4 win over another form team Wardleworth/Jessiman in the semi-final. Daniel/Reid also won a close semi-final match 5-4 against Brown/McCarron. Reigning champions Mitchell/Cradduck had a narrow escape vs Gillies/Anderson in the Last 32 before finally being defeated 4-2 in the Quarter Finals by Wardleworth/Jessiman. Other losing quarter finalists were Matthew/Kelly, Davis/Rennie, and Ahern/Stephen. Milne/Milne and Clarke/Downie also played well and were unlucky in last frame deciders against a couple of the favourites. Thanks to Rileys, Bridge Place, for sponsoring and hosting the event again this year.
