MikeClark writes I am writing to invite you to join the SEPF Regional Tour where you have a chance to automatically qualify for a place in the Scotland Men’s Team. Region 1 encompasses all players based in the North East area, with most events taking place centrally at carefully selected venues in Ellon and Peterhead.
Please browse through the attached flyer with info on how the new structure will work and a joining form. Any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me on 07760224588 (please note that most withheld numbers are not received).
At the first event...
attended, every player must pay a season joining fee of £10. Player rankings are updated after each event. At each event attended, a player ranked outwith the top 16 only pays a £10 entry at that event. All players in the top 16 must pay a £20 entry fee.
The top 16 seeded places for event 1 of 2007, are taken from the final 2006 tour rankings: Note: all players listed must confirm acceptance with a £10 payment before 15th Jan)
1. Ian Daniel 2. Mark Oaten 3. Darren Matthew 4. Mike Clark 5. Raymond Mowat 6. Sandy Anderson 7. Mark Gravener 8. Allan Anderson 9. Pat McCarron 10. Gavin James 11. Paul Simpson 12. Alexander Stephen 13. Phillip Craig jnr 14. Martin McIntosh 15. Jim Anderson 16. Scott Proud
Tournament Format The proposed format will be decided on the 15th January. If 64 entries are received by this date, the format will be as stated in the info sheet, with the top 16 players progressing automatically to the Sunday. If this number is not achieved, the top 16 players will be included in the main draw, and so must be in attendance for registration and the draw taking place at 12noon on the Saturday.
This decision will only affect the top 16 players, so they will be notified of the final format on the 15th January. All other players must be in attendance and registered by 12noon on Saturday 3rd Feb.
There is no closing date, entry will be accepted until the draw at the first event I hope to see you at this event on February 3rd-4th at the Station Hotel in Ellon.
Who is the SEPF ?
The Scottish Eightball Pool Federation (SEPF) is the governing body for World Rules Pool played in Scotland, recognised by and affiliated to the European Eight-ball Pool Federation (EEPF), and World Eight-ball Pool Federation (WEPF).
The SEPF organise events in which players of all ages and abilities are welcome to compete, improving their standard of play and hopefully qualify for the national squad which attend various international events held each year. The qualification process for the men’s squad is automatic, ensuring a fair system which is based on each player’s final ranking position.
This year, the SEPF has restructured, splitting the men’s ranking tour into two sections: Region 1 – North of (and including) Laurencekirk Region 2 – South of Laurencekirk
This restructure gives more players the opportunity to play in events organised by the SEPF. The two regions will reduce travel distance, accommodation costs, etc. which build up over an entire season.
Each region will run a separate Ranking Tour/Series and contact details for each region are listed below. Both will have separate calendars of events to suit the pool community in the area with various events planned.
The SEPF will still organise and run the following national events listed:
Scottish Singles / Junior Singles Scottish Open / Junior Open Scottish Masters / Junior Masters Scottish Interleague SEPF Ladies Ranking Tour/Series
The introduction of the Region 1 Tour won’t affect the current North East Scotland Pool Tour (NESPT) set-up. These will run alongside each other.

Could You Play For Scotland ?
What’s In It For You ? Scotland has already produced World and European team and individual Champions in each of the Men, Ladies and Junior categories. Maybe you have what it takes, maybe you want to test yourself against players from other leagues, maybe you want to improve your game playing the best players in the region, maybe you just want a social occasion with friends or to meet other players.
The Process The system is automatic which makes it fair. To play for Scotland, it all starts with the ranking tour. Accumulate enough points by the end of the season to qualify for the squad trial, then win enough matches at the trial to become part of the team to represent your country.
The Men’s Ranking Tour The tour will consist of six ranking events held throughout the year. Points are awarded at each event depending on how many frames are won and how far a player progresses.
Proposed Format Dependant on entries, each event will be played over one weekend. The top 16 seeded players on the ranking list will pay a £20 entry fee and automatically progress to the Sunday. Any other player wishing to enter will pay £10 entry fee and play on the Saturday (late entry allowed due to work, etc). Play continues until only 16 players remain, they will then progress to the Sunday. A fresh draw will be carried out on Sunday morning, and the tournament played from the last 32 stage to a finish. Dependant on entries, prize money will be paid out as far down as the last 16 stage. Note: Should entry level not meet expectation, an alternative format will be devised to accommodate numbers.
The 2007 Tour Calendar (revised) Feb 3/4 Event #1 Station Hotel, Ellon Mar 3/4 Event #2 Top Break Club, Peterhead Apr 14/15 Event #3 Top Break Club, Peterhead Jun ???? Event #4 Bowl 2000, Elgin Aug 18/19 Event #5 Top Break Club, Peterhead Oct 20/21 Event #6 Station Hotel, Ellon
How to Join To join the ranking tour there is a joining fee of £10. These fees collected will allow the SEPF to pay membership costs to the European and World bodies, the rest will remain in the region and will go toward trophy costs and be redistributed in the prize fund payouts.
Cmplete and return the FORM to join the 2007 Region 1 SEPF Tour.
